Orana!
This morning I got up early. My body gets so stiff in just a few hours of sleep. Enjoy these 5:30 am shots.
By 7:30, we were up and at the breakfast buffet. Today was a big day for Alex, so we ate quickly before his ride came. This fall, he got his diving certification to partake in a dive while in Bora Bora. He booked his excursion through Viator and it included them picking him up. I saw him off at the dock at 8:15.
I had several fleeting thoughts of how I would get contacted if Alex had to be brought to Tahiti by helicopter. I moved on because I wanted to do my activities while he was gone. I changed into a rash guard and swimming bottom. Today’s word of the day is tiare (tee-ah-ray), it means flower and is used most commonly referring to the frangipani flower (plumeria). I picked one off the tree the night before and kept it in water in the bathroom sink. Ladies commonly wear this flower in their hair
About the rash guard….. I’m not 100% certain if you are supposed to wear a swim top under them. If you choose not to wear one, don’t get a color lighter than your nipples if you don’t want to draw attention to yourself….
I went on the back deck with my coloring book and markers and colored for a bit. It started sprinkling. I did have to go into the bungalow because although I had moved my lounge chair under the canopy to avoid the direct sun, it started raining hard enough my things were getting sprinkled on. I made myself a coffee and snuggled in.
The rain stopped after 15 minutes; a housekeeper had stopped by about that time. I was streaming music, and the two of us were singing along. I was listening to Nora Jones, and she asked if it was country music 😑. I pulled out my translator. She spoke no English and only a little French. I had to let her know it was more blues/jazz.
I lost track of time and was almost late for the 11 am daily activity the resort provides. It was a flower crown lesson.
When I returned to the bungalow, Alex returned from his dive. Here are some of his photos/videos!
Alex had depleted his stores, so he made us these yummy treats!
After lounging, we got a stamp and toured the resort’s gardens and took photos of the art they had on display.
We returned to the bungalow and did more coloring and I tried out several pareo styles while getting ready for dinner at Miki Miki restaurant.
The food at Miki-Miki is more American style with Polynesian touches. They still offered bread service. After this night’s meal, I made a pact with myself, no bread! I miss eating the good stuff because I am full before my meal arrives.
Alex ordered the grilled octopus salad with tomato confit for our starter course, and I got the Tahiti’s shrimp risotto flavored with Tahaa vanilla (I just picked out the shrimp and called it good, they didn’t skimp!)
Alex ordered shrimp, chorizo, and pepper cream pizza for the main course. I got a hot stone where you cook your meat on a rock they bring out, and you can choose your sauce and starch. I ordered the surf and turf with bearnaise sauce and French fries. We apologize that we forgot to take pictures before we started eating. We were both very full at this point and decided to skip dessert.
We went back to our room to relax for the evening. We did bring our Roku with us. Not all services or tiles on those services work internationally, but it allowed us to watch something in English. We also did more coloring! Tomorrow is another adventure, so off to bed!
